Cockburns Special Reserve is a mature off-dry port from Portugal from one of the largest vineyards in the region, dating back to 1815. With lovely aromas of dried plums, walnut and tobacco, it's soft and mellow to drink.
Douro
Deep red/purple colour. It still has purple tinges and is not showing its age. Smells and looks young with distinctive Portuguese peppery spicy wood, spirit and fruit aroma, plus a touch of licorice. The palate is moderately intense and clean, with quite firm tannin on the finish counter-balancing the sweetness. It's not overly sweet and the finish is balanced and clean with tannin and acid drying it nicely. A pleasing young port.
